בקרב פגים שנולדים בשבוע כה מוקדם ובמשקל נמוך השכיחות לליקוי שמיעה מעט יותר גבוהה מזו באוכלוסיה הכללית. לתשומת ליבך שכיחות ליקוי שמיעה באוכלוסיה הכללית (1-2 תינוקות מתוך 1000). לפיכך מעדיפים לבדוק את השמיעה של תינוקות אלו באופן מקיף באמצעותבדיקת BERA. בבדיקה נבדקים 2 דברים: 1. סף השמיעה של התינוק - כלומר העוצמה הכי נמוכה בה עדין נרשמת תגובה מעצב השמיעה. 2. ההולכה לאורך עצב השמיעה - כלומר, אם נדמה את עצב השמיעה לחוט חשמל אנוט מודדים כמה זמן לוקח לו להעביר את המתח מקצה אחד למשנהו. כל סטייה באחד מן הפרמטרים (סף גבוה או זמני הולכה ארוכים) תחשב לא תקינה ולפיכך פתולוגית. המשמעות של כל אחד מן השנויים היא שונה, לפיכך יש צורך להבין היטב מה היה פתולוגי בבדיקה הספציפית שאת מדברת עליה.
לסיכום, בחלק מבתי החולים מבוצעות בדיקות שמיעה עם הלידה. כדאי לברר בבית החולים אם הוא מבצע בדיקות כאלו ואם התינוק עבר את הבדיקה בהצלחה זה כבר יכול להרגיע. אם כבר ביצעתם BERA כדאי לבדוק עם הקלינאית שביצעה את הבדיקה מה בדיוק היה לא תקין.

עד 250 hr יש ירידה של 25 דציבלים,
בין 250 - 4000 hr יש בין 15 - 20 דציבלים
אבל מ 4000 ועד 8000 hr יש ירידה חדה ל40 דציבלים.
כמו כן נרשם ע|י הבודק שיש ירידה בשמיעה והחמרה מבדיקה קודמת שנעשתה לפני שנתים.

האם אותה ירידה בשמיעה חזרה על עצמה במספר בדיקות שמיעה עם טימפנומטריה תקינה או שהירידה ההולכתית נראתה רק בבדיקה אחת ויחידה?! אני שואלת את השאלה הזו, כיוון שבהחלט תיתכן בעיה טכנית באוזניות שגורמת לפסאודו ירידה בשמיעה, אך בפועל אין בעיה בשמיעה אלא בעיה טכנית של האוזניות....

ראשית, ספי שמיעה של 15-20dB אינם נחשבים לירידה בשמיעה, אלא לשמיעה בגבול התחתון של הנורמה. העובדה שלאורך כל הבדיקות בסה"כ היתה שמיעה בתחומי הנורמה, ורק בבדיקה האחרונה התקבלה ירידת שמיעה קלה עם טימפנומטריה תקינה עשויה לחזק את הטענה הקודמת שלי שמדובר בתקלה טכנית באוזניות.
דבר נוסף שיכול להיות הוא שבחודש לאחר הניקוי הצטברה שעווה רבה בתעלת האוזן, שחוסמת מעט את מעבר הצליל בהולכת אוויר, אך עדיין מאפשרת לקבל היענות תקינה של עור התוף בבדיקת הטימפנומטריה.
הייתי ממליצה לך לקחת את ילדך שוב לרופא אא"ג על מנת לבדוק האם בינתיים לא הצטברה שוב שעווה שיש לנקותה.
מילדותי סבלתי מדלקות חריפות באוזניים. באוזן ימין היתה לי דלקת חריפה מאד שנאלצתי לעבור שני ניתוחים. באוזן ימין יש גם בעיה אבל הרופאים ממליצים לא לנתח אותה. היום עברתי בדיקת שמיעה ויש לי ירידה בשמיעה באוזן ה"טובה" הלא מנותחת. באוזן הזאת אני מרכיבה מכשיר שמיעה. האם להרכיב מכשיר גם באוזן השניה ? הפגועה יותר?
